Circuit Highlights
Brand new circuit for MotoGP
The first-ever Hungarian Grand Prix. A purpose-built facility designed to FIM standards — expect a modern layout but some first-year teething issues.
Lake Balaton setting
The circuit sits on the northern shore of Lake Balaton — Hungary's "inland sea." Rolling hills and lake views make this one of MotoGP's most scenic new venues.
Wine country on your doorstep
The Csopak and Balatonfüred-Csopak wine district is right next to the circuit. Olaszrizling tastings between sessions.
Sprint weekend format
Saturday sprint race + Sunday main event. Two chances to see MotoGP flat out.
Easy from Budapest
Budapest airport is about 100 km away via the M7 motorway — roughly 1h 15min drive. Trains reach the Balaton area in under 2 hours.
June weather
Warm days (24–27°C), long daylight hours, and the possibility of quick afternoon thunderstorms. Pack sun protection and a rain layer.

Quick FAQ
How do I get to Balaton Park Circuit from Budapest?
Drive via the M7 motorway (~100 km, 1h 15min) or take a MÁV train from Budapest Déli to Balatonkenese station (~1h 30min). From the station, shuttle services are expected on race days. You will need a motorway e-matrica vignette if driving.
What currency does Hungary use?
Hungarian Forint (HUF), not Euro. Cards are widely accepted but bring HUF cash for circuit vendors and small purchases. Roughly 400 HUF = €1.
Is this really the first MotoGP race in Hungary?
Yes. The 2026 Grand Prix of Hungary is the first-ever MotoGP race held in Hungary, at the brand-new Balaton Park Circuit. Expect a debut-year atmosphere with strong local enthusiasm but possible logistical rough edges.
What is the weather like at Lake Balaton in June?
June averages 24–27°C during the day, dropping to 13–16°C at night. Rain is possible — afternoon thunderstorms can develop quickly. Pack sunscreen, a hat, and a light rain jacket.
