Getting to Brno

Transport, parking, and how to leave without chaos

Airports

BRQBrno-Tuřany Airport

30 min drive to circuit

Pros: Closest airport. Bus E76 connects to the city centre in 20 minutes.

Cons: Very limited international routes. Most flights are seasonal charters. You will likely need to connect via Prague or Vienna.

PRGPrague Václav Havel Airport

2.5h by train to Brno

Pros: Major international hub with direct flights from most European cities and some long-haul routes. Budget carriers include Ryanair, Wizz Air, and easyJet.

Cons: Requires a 2.5-hour train or bus journey from Prague to Brno. Book train tickets in advance for race weekend.

VIEVienna International Airport

2h by train/bus to Brno

Pros: Excellent international connections. Direct trains and buses to Brno. Good option for fans coming from outside Europe.

Cons: Cross-border journey (Austria to Czech Republic). Some trains require a change at Wien Hauptbahnhof.

Trains to Brno

  • From Prague: České dráhy, RegioJet, and Leo Express. ~2.5 hours, from 200 CZK (€8). Frequent departures.
  • From Vienna: ÖBB/České dráhy. ~1.5-2 hours. Regular service.
  • From Bratislava: ~1.5 hours by train. Less frequent but easy cross-border connection.
  • Brno hlavní nádraží (main station) is the arrival point. From there, take tram 8 to Nemocnice Bohunice for the free circuit shuttle.
  • Book in advance — race weekend trains from Prague fill up, especially Sunday morning and Sunday evening returns.

Getting to the Circuit

Free Shuttle Bus (Recommended)

  • Departs from Nemocnice Bohunice transport hub during race weekend
  • Free — no ticket needed
  • Take tram 8 from Brno main station to Nemocnice Bohunice (final stop)
  • Shuttle runs regularly throughout the race day
  • Return shuttles run until after the final race

Regular Bus 402

  • Runs daily to Automotodrom from Brno
  • Standard public transport fare
  • Less frequent than the free race-day shuttle but runs on non-race days too
  • Useful for Friday practice when the shuttle may not operate

Driving

  • Take exit 178 Ostrovačice or exit 182 Kývalka from the motorway
  • Follow signposts to Autodrom / Grand Prix / Paddock
  • Large parking areas in the circuit vicinity
  • Easy Camping Parking offers pre-bookable spots ~10 min walk from circuit
  • Parking is on grassy ground — not suitable for low sports cars
  • Head toward parking by 08:00 — gridlock from 09:00

Motorcycle

  • Dedicated motorcycle parking available near the circuit
  • Popular option — many fans ride to the Czech GP
  • Arrive early on Sunday for the best spots

Post-Race Exit Strategy

The circuit sits in wooded hills with limited road access. Post-race traffic jams are severe — expect 1-2+ hours to clear the area if you leave immediately after the MotoGP race.

  • Option A: Leave before the podium. You miss the celebration but save 1-2 hours in traffic.
  • Option B: Stay for the podium, then wait 30-45 minutes for the initial crush to clear before heading to your car or the shuttle.
  • The free shuttle buses continue running after the race. Using public transport avoids the worst of the traffic.
  • If driving, consider having dinner in Brno city and leaving later in the evening when roads have cleared.

Where to Stay

25 min by shuttle

Best option. Walk to tram, excellent restaurants and nightlife. Books up months ahead for MotoGP — reserve early.

Brno outskirts (Bohunice area)

15 min by shuttle

Closer to the shuttle departure point. Fewer restaurants but more availability and lower prices.

Circuit camping

Walk to gates

Camp A and other camping areas offer proximity to the circuit. Pre-book Easy Camping Parking for a guaranteed spot. Atmosphere is festival-like.

Prague

2.5h by train

Only if Brno is fully booked. The daily commute is long but trains are frequent and comfortable.
